Whoops! I was too pi**ed off to get the URLs right! Here are the
correct URLs:

<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/index.txt> 170KB Master patch list
<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/> *HUGE* download directory!

<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/NT4SP3_A.EXE> SP 3.0.1 Alpha
<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/NT4SYM3A.EXE> debug symbols

<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/NT4SP3_I.EXE> SP 3.0.1 Intel
<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/NT4SYM3I.EXE> debug symbols

Those rat bastards! What were they thinking, that we all have T3's? F***!

If you get the files from the more usual place:

  ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/nt40/ussp3/i386

you'll see a readme file there that says:

Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3

This is NOT a new version of the Service Pack. The dates are
different than the original files because the following files
have been resigned. No changes were made to the Service Pack.

    Nt4sp3_a.exe
    Nt4sp3_i.exe
    Nt4sym3a.exe
    Nt4sym3i.exe

Hope this helps.

PS - I assume "resigned" means "re-signed" in the above. Who knows what
re-signed means.

Well, I'm hooked to the Internet through a campus lan, so I downloaded the
"new" SP3 and extracted the files in it. I can't explain the size differences
between the "old" and "new" SP3 archives, but after extraction, they are
identical. They both have 649 files taking up 56,411,868 bytes. The file
dates are identical too, 5/1/97 12:00AM. Maybe they rearchived them for some
reason? I don't know...

I think you had it right the first time. We are "resigned" to microsoft's
service pack ploys for NT 4. :)
