I am thinking that maybe you should go with Metrowerks "Codewarrior 7".
I say this so we can get another 500 posts to topic.
In my learning of Java in the last year:
-JBuilder 3.5 was slow as a dog for development.
-IBM's Visual Age is a little complicated, and well, IBM style.
-Eclipse is really cool, except you have to know
how the code.
-I tried the Symantic, visual something I think. And it bombed and
bombed and bombed, and bombed some more. Symantic sold it to another
company, and gave me some new stuff. And my machine never recoved from
more death crashes.
-I never tried the SUN tools.
Metrowerks CodeWarrior was cool, since it built screens
and made all the button and text box code when focus is gained.
It really helped me get going, since the code was easy to do, and
gave examples. It does not have data binding if you are doing database
stuff. If you don't want to code it, you may need JBuilder.
I personally use ECLIPSE now and love it, but it sure would have been
hard to start with (and requires a lot of typing).
NOW, maybe this will be good for 1000 more debates and posts :)
