Well,
I don't mind continuing a conversation...
I don't want to confuse the new guys and I don't want involved in war
of words and slams...that is useless. Now that I've said that...I'll
continue.

As I said previously platform independence is highly valuable for
internet type things...I should have been a little more generic and
stated communications in general. Obviously platform independence
alleviates the need to specialize anything to a platform.

As far as J++ goes, I frankly, don't care what Micro$oft'$ motive'$
were...perhaps, I have Idea$ about what they could be...like $$. But
regardless, I have to say, their IDE is awesome. I've looked at lots
of different ones and admittedly I haven't used too many but, I have
used a few others and this one is a good practical way to learn
programming.

Some will complain...it's not pure java...but none have obviously tried
to fix it. I have just downloaded an add in manager and plan to
develop a tool to interface directly with J++ to produce pure jdk1.2
using sun's compiler...of course this will alleviate completely the
need for anything but the editor portion of J++. But it's always there
if you want it....

You may be thinking it's not possible to use sun's compiler but I have
just run an executable using my add on which means I only have to give
it parameters and choose javac, java...or whatever and I'm set!

It's more than possible to do...and the sad thing is that the
capability has been there for several years but not too many know about
it....just search this group and you'll see try add-ins...you'll find a
handfull of 3rd party software types...but nothing from ms.

Oh, I have to say, I have little knowledge of programming...I'm a
physicsist but I taught myself programming...I just happened to choose
java! So I may not be able to keep up with your conversation too
long...but I'll read and post when I can...

Jeremy
