It's because the software industry has become like Detroit in the early '60's, or at least one company has... The products that emerge from their "campus" are like the cars that lost the auto industry for America: Sleek, fat, powerful, thirsty, ineficient, full of superficial gadgets that break, hard to start when it's cold, and hard to park.
