The why did not smalltalk take off? One question i asked
a while ago, is if smalltalk is so easy to use and develop
in then why are the tools so damn expensive? Why are there
expensive runtimes? Why is there no portable standard?
Java is free as air compared to smalltalk. Java is in addition
a good language with near universal support. That's a lot to
overcome with tepid arguments of productivity gains.
