Hi all,

Further to the subject of optimized RTL's for TP6 & BP6, I have the
pleasure of offering the following two ZIP files for those who are
interested. You've got until 12 September to ask for them, after that
date I'm on my honeymoon in Japan, and the email address to ask for
them, <adira (at) takas (dot) lt> will be out of use until somewhere
in January. Please do _NOT_ use my Bigfoot address, due to a change
of policy it only forwards 15 emails per day, and yours may get lost
due to spam. If you really want to use another address, then please
use either <prino@hotmail.com> or <robert_ah_prins(at)yahoo(dot)com>

In all cases the "Subject:" line of your message _MUST_ contain the
following text: "[hh] For Robert Prins - RTL ZIPs"

The two ZIP files are:

========================================================================
OVERLAY.ZIP  - Overlay unit sources

OVERLAY.PAS Modified Pascal source - added {$L directives
OVERLAY.ASM OvrInit/OvrClearBuf procedures - hard to split further
OVERSETB.ASM OvrSetBuf procedure -+- split into separate files,
OVERGETB.ASM OvrGetBuf function | allows saving some space in .EXE
OVERSETR.ASM OvrSetRetry procedure | if not used. (Smartlinking works
OVERGETR.ASM OvrGetRetry function -+ on .OBJ file basis)
OVEREMS.ASM   OvrInitEms procedure
OVERLAY.AMS   Original TP V6.00
OVEREMS.AMS   Original TP V6.00     (1)
OVERXMS.ASM Modified version of Wilbert van Leijen's code

Most of the above .ASM files contain 386 instructions, so the resulting
OVERLAY unit will no longer run on a 8086/286!

The OVERXMS file includes some 386 instructions, and also a number of
bug-fixes by Veit Kannegieser. (Link on <http://www.vpascal.com/>

(1) BP7 added two instructions to OVEREMS.ASM, they are included in the
    included OVEREMS.ASM file
========================================================================
EMULATOR.ZIP - Hardware and software emulator sources

EM87.ASM      x87 Hardware emulator (1)
EM86.ASM      x87 Software emulator (2)
EM87.MAX      x87 Hardware emulator (3)
EM87.MIN      x87 Hardware emulator (4)

(1) Polished up output from IDA <http://www.datarescue.com/>,
    - Norbert Juffa's BP7 version, inserting NOPs instead of FWAITs
      if not running on a 8086/88
    - 8086/8088 detection code commented out
(2) Fairly raw output of IDA (BP7 version)
(3) As (1) above, highly optimized (also requires changes to F87H.ASM!)
(4) As (1) above, slightly optimized, no other RTL changes needed to
    use it

All three EM87 files use .386/.387 directives, i.e. they will NOT
generate FWAIT instructions, and as such are incompatible with the
8087. (Which by now should be pretty much obsolete...)

Note: The above sources are all based on the BP7 RTL (which are
different from the TP6 RTL) and, as far as EM87 is concerned, on the
Norbert Juffa patched version. If you really want, the original TP6
(EM86 & EM87) & BP7 (EM87) files are available, but you need to present
a pretty good case to request them!
========================================================================

NB, all .ASM files contain "ALIGN 4" directives, resulting in a few
warnings. This directive was useful on the 386, you might want to change
them into a space wasting "ALIGN 16" for Pentiums/PII/PIII/P4 etc, or
remove them completely if space is at a premium.
