How to use a DB without an alias

In Delphi 5, I would like to use a multi-table access database without using
BDE. I just want to tell it the filename and table name and have it display
the chosen table in a grid with a dropdown for changing to another table.
How do I do this? All instructions I find make me register the DB with the
BDE first.
