"Stream Read Error" and Zero-Length Delphi32.DMT File

For the last week I've seen a "Stream Read Error" every time I startup
Delphi 3. I've looked for various explanations, including searching Deja
News, and nothing seemed to help.

So I looked in the ..\Delphi 3\bin directory for files that changed
recently. The Delphi32.DMT file was a zero-length file, so I deleted it.
The problem when away.

Delphi 3 created a new Delphi32.DMT that was not zero-length the next time I
started up.

Does anyone know what's in the .DMT file and how it might have become a
zero-length file?

From Delphi 3 Standard Help 'Saving Menu Templates':

'Any menu you design can be saved as a template so you can use it again.
You can use menu templates to provide a consistent look to your
applications, or use them as a starting point which you then further
customize.
The menu templates you save are stored in your BIN subdirectory
as .DMT files.'
