What am I breaking by prepending a header? ) ) Rick Troth <TROTH@RICEVM1.RICE.EDU> -------- Rice Univ, I/S VM Systems Support If the file conforms to the Adobe Document Structuring Conventions there are comments in the file (starting with %%) that let other programs know where the pages are. The NeXT uses these comments to assure that pages come out in order (by printing them in reverse order.) If you do not like this, try: %%PageOrder: Ascending or somthing like this in the Header (i.e. before the "%%EndComments"). There is also another comment where you can explicitly declare the order. Or, you could simply strip all of the DSC comments: "$ grep -v ^%% file.ps" (NOTE the resulting file lies because the first line still indicates that it conforms the DSC -- it contains the %!PS-Adobe stuff.) I have run into this also. I use a script called "multi" to print mutltiple pages per physical page. It does this by redefining key PS operators. However, it does not change the DSC comments in files that have them and the NeXT feeds the pages to the program in reversed order, so the result is not nice. I plan on attempting to fix this -- some day :-). -- +----------------------+---------------------------------------------------+ | Kevin O.
