Trouble with PS + Sparcprinter

I have a friend (no, really!) who claims that the following postscript
file makes no marks on a page when sent to his sparcprinter:

%!
/inch {72 mul} def

4.25 inch 5.5 inch translate

0 0 moveto 0 0.1 lineto stroke

showpage

It also doesn't work for line lengths of less than 0.1 of course. At
some length above 0.1 it starts working again. It doesn't even work
with a "1 setlinecap" (which forces rounding of the line caps).

Is anyone not surprised by this? If you're not, why not? Is this a
known bug (it's a bug, right?), and is there a work around?

Thanks,
