I realise that this is a FAQ and has been dealt with numerous times in this group but there does not appear to be a FAQ file. I have a postscript file that was generated on a VAX using VAX GKS handlers and wish to view in on a Mac. The problem is that the Mac requires a EPS format. I have read the postscript manual and have tried changing the file to what the manual suggested but with no luck. Does anyone know how to convert a ps file to a eps file or does anyone know where I can get a mac program that will read a ps file? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- ====================================================================== | | | Chris Bradley email : bradley@esv1.aukuni.ac.nz |

One simple solution would be to regenerate the file using an EPS workstation type rather than PS. VAX GKS can produce EPS; however they will not have a preview bitmap. The relevant GKS workstation types are: 61 Postscript 62 Colour Postscript 65 EPS 66 Colour EPS Chapter 3 of the PHIGS and GKS device specifics manual goes into some detail on using Postscript workstation types with GKS. Of course, this assumes you still have access to the original source program. If not, I am sure many others on the net will have explained how to hack PS to EPS -- Chris Lilley --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Author, ITTI Computer Graphics and Visualisation Training Project Computer Graphics Unit, Manchester Computing Centre, Manchester, UK Internet: lilley@cgu.mcc.ac.uk Janet: lilley@uk.ac.mcc.cgu Voice: +44 (0)61 275 6095 Fax: +44 (0)61 275 6040 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
