Apologies in advance if this is not the right newsgroup(s); please tell me where this query would be more appropriate. I'm looking for any information about the OPI (Open Prepress Environment), reputedly from Aldus, supposedly consisting of an extension to PostScript comments and some other stuff. (As you can tell, I don't know much about it). Does Aldus have a fileserver or an e-mail address I could contact them at for further information? Please email to me, and I'll summarize if this actually turns out to be of interest. Not only is this a fairly constrained topic, I don't normally get these newsgroups at my site. -- Subrata Sircar | ssircar@canon.com | Prophet & SPAMIT Charter Member Canon Information Systems and I do not speak for each other on all things. Everything I know about the Open Prepress Interface comes from an article I read last year in the _Seybold Report on Publishing Systems_, Vol. 20, No. 17, ISSN: 0736-7260, May 29, 1991. It is simply a convention for embedding instructions into PostScript files to tell the output device where and how to merge various text and graphics components of a page. The components themselves are PS files that may have been composed at different times on various computers. It has its roots in Aldus's PageMaker. Its main trick is to let users manipulate low resolution images on their screens, for editing, cropping, color correction, etc., and then reference the full resolution image, with all the modifications, to the printer. Its designed for high resolution image setters and so won't help folks who want to stick to 300 dpi as much. Contact Aldus for more info. -- =-=-=-=-==-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Harry Parker Electronic Imaging Platform Center email: hparker@raster.kodak.com or ..!uunet!sisd!hparker snailmail: Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester NY 14650-0807
