Is it correct that cexec is no longer supported in Level 2? (I don't mean undocumented; I mean that using it results in an error.) If that is so, does anyone know of any Level 2 substitutes for getting low-level code to the interpreter? Is this why Adobe has (I am told) abandoned Lasertalk? Inquiring minds want to know. --Steve

Since the cexec operator no longer exists, putting it in your file will cause an "undefined" error. > Does anyone know of any Level 2 substitutes for getting low-level > code to the interpreter? There is no longer a way to do this. This is not just a Level 2 problem, but a controller problem. You could not expect the same code to work on, say, a Laserwriter IIg, with a 68030, and a Laserwriter NTR, with an AMD 29000. > Is this why Adobe has (I am told) abandoned Lasertalk? Adobe has not abandoned Lasertalk. There was an unfortunate hiatus. The November issue of the Adobe Developer's Association News describes our ongoing work towards a new release. The only feature disabled by lack of cexec is the ability to preview your PostScript file from the printer. The update will include bug fixes, System 7 compatibility for the Mac version, and on-line documentation upgrade to Level 2.
