Has anyone been able to mail to c$erve lately? I asked about this about 4-5 months ago and received a document that gave me information. My understanding is that to get from the .UUCP domain (pseudo-internet) to c$erve, you send mail to the cis account # @compuserve.com and things get translated automagically. e.g. xxxxx.yyy@compuserve.com is a valid internet address for someone one c$erve. The following headers were received this morning. My question is: Should I talk to the postmaster at cis.ohio-state.edu or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated... advTHANKSance -- Frotz ]---------------------------------------------------------------------- ]From uunet!cis.ohio-state.edu!Mailer-Daemon Sun Jan 13 18:42:40 1991 ]Received: from giza.cis.ohio-state.edu by uunet.UU.NET (5.61/1.14) with SMTP ] id AA05724; Sun, 13 Jan 91 19:04:06 -0500 ]Received: from uunet.UU.NET by giza.cis.ohio-state.edu (5.61-kk/5.910105) ] id AA05356; Sun, 13 Jan 91 19:03:58 -0500 ]Date: Sun, 13 Jan 91 19:03:58 -0500 ]From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <uunet!cis.ohio-state.edu!Mailer-Daemon> ]Subject: Returned mail: Service unavailable ]Message-Id: <9101140003.AA05356@giza.cis.ohio-state.edu> ]To: <frotz@dri.com> ]Status: OR ] ] ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ]451 Cannot exec /bin/smail: No such file or directory ]554 <76703.455@compuserve.com>... Yes, you should; and it would have worked a whole lot better and more promptly if you'd just mailed me directly. ]Date: Sun, 13 Jan 91 19:03:58 -0500 ]From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <uunet!cis.ohio-state.edu!Mailer-Daemon> ]Subject: Returned mail: Service unavailable ]To: <frotz@dri.com> ] ] ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ]451 Cannot exec /bin/smail: No such file or directory ]554 <76703.455@compuserve.com>... Service unavailable Giza (one of the systems which does gateway work for CServe) was upgraded this past Sunday, and I managed to miss one of the more important bits of the mail system in the process. It was fixed less than 10 minutes after multi-user reboot after otherwise having completed the upgrade. Your mail managed to get bitten in that 10-minute window. Send again; it'll get through now. --karl postmaster for another 16 days
