Procmail Filtering

I'm having a bit of trouble filtering with procmail in conjunction with my
virtual domain name. I've got a line in my .procmailrc like this:
:0
* ^TOeddy@enqueue.com
! eddy@best.com
This works when the mail is specifically addresses to eddy@enqueue.com.
However, if eddy joins some mailing lists, the To address is often the
address of the mailing list. That the e-mail is intended for eddy is hidden
within another header, like this:
Received: from ftp1.primenet.com (root@ftp1.primenet.com [206.165.5.50]) by
proxy1.ba.best.com (8.8.4/8.8.3) with ESMTP id TAA07995 for
<eddy@enqueue.com>; Sun, 12 Jan 1997 19:15:30 -0800 (PST)
How can I modify the procmail recipe to catch messages like the above?
Thanks,
jase

That the e-mail is intended for eddy is hidden Hi Jase, Welcome to BEST from CRL. How do you like it? :) The only way I've been able to solve the mailing list problem with procmail is to special case the To address of the mailing list. Unfortunately, I think that's the best we can do, other than getting an extra $5/month POP mailbox service from BEST. I thought that the original author was a best person... In any case it does a pretty good job of finding the desired target. I can make the source available in my ftp space if anyone likes... >** To reply to this message, please edit the address to jase@enqueue.com ** Dude, you should just set your Reply-To: field up. I should think that your newsreader would do the same thing... Kurt

AFAIK, you're screwed with bcc and procmail; tho' it would be wonderful if someone knows different. You might be able to filter the messages based on the From: and/or Subject: headers ...... -- |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| | Malcolm Hoar "The more I practice, the luckier I get". | | malch@malch.com Gary Player. | | http://www.malch.com/ Shpx gur PQN. | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If it's in a "Received:" field, or anywhere else in the header the condition will match.

Well, on my account here at Best, I just do: :0 rnoia@best.com ! someplaceelse (notice the lack of ^TO) and it greps the message for whatever and does not limit the search to the "to" field.. and works quite well for me. --roger On Sun, 12 Jan 1997 19:30:09 -0800, jase@edit_to_reply.com (Jase P.
