Is there a way to DIRECTLY send mail to the actual mailbox
of a user though we have only the full_name domain address?

Sya, we want to send mail to joe.moe@dom.ain and find that dom.ain
has a alias table showing the final recipient is joe@host.dom.ain
Can we avoid sending the mail through the mailhost dom.ain and
istead directly send to host.dom.ain?

Can sendmail/pmdf/zmailer/... do this automatically from the
mail sender's side?  How do we configre the mailhost at dom.ain ?

This is similar to MX records, but at the user level.  Does the
concept already exist / should it be implemented?

Sure there is a need for it - mailhost dom.ain is swamped and slow!
