I have this on-going problem that is literally jaming things up,
and i can not find a solution for the life of me.
For example, if I ftp to a site, it will say, for example,

fpt bunyip.cc.uq.oz.au
	connected to bunyip.cc.uq.oz.au

and then just hang there forever.  smtp is doing the same thing, as shown
by this short smail log,

Thats all it did. connected, then nothing.

I am using SCO3.2.4.2 ODT Open Enterprise Server System, DNS, and have tried
all the mailers in an attempt to solve this connection. It is NOT a 
mailer problem obviously, but something else, and I can not find anyone
who seems to know why a system will connect and then hang forever.

does anyone have any clues please.  Please reply to this newsgroup, as
obviously mail is not working very well, although you kay give it a try!
