PC Tools 8.0 vs. Windows 3.1???

I received my Central Point PC Tool 8.0 upgrade last week. Has anyone else
noticed problem with the new RAMboost feature of the package? I decided to
give it a try since the documentation claimed it did a better job than
OPTIMIZE when used with QEMM-386 (6.01). After installing RAMboost I
noticed that I had 10K *less* base RAM and that a number of applications
failed when run in Windows 386-enhanced mode.

Does anyone know if PC-Cache 8.0 works better with Windows 3.1 than SMARTDRV?
Is it safe to use? :-)

I've used PC-Tools for several years and my rule of thumb is never
install a PC-Tools release that ends in zero if you can help it. Order
the upgrade, and put it on the shelf for a couple of months until the
bug fix release comes out, then install that. Major PC-Tools releases
always has serious bugs, but CPS does fix them, so a bit of patience is
indicated. If you can't wait, try to avoid using major new features,
since they usually have the worst bugs.

Please note that I do buy the upgrades and use them, once they've been
fixed. I'm not trying to trash PC-Tools, since I think it provides good
value for the money.
