Please help, my dad wants to put together a whole family history and is
considering the possibilities of multimedia - but neither of us know much
about it beyond that we can combine different media together in some kind of
 hyper text linked way.
What we would like to know is this...

Can we put old family movies onto the system, and index parts of them?- and
then play them back on request.
What is the best format to store stuff on?
What Authoring packages are there to put this stuff together
How Much does it all cost (roughly)
How long will it take to put together?

The kinds of things we might like to do with the system is interrogate it on
say one member of the family, and have access to all the data that is relevant
to that person .

please email as I do not subscribe to this group

Many Thanks for your help
