                       HDS introduces 17" color
                      RISC-based X Window terminal

New model features Trinitron screen and aggressive pricing

New York, NY. September 22, 1992. Human Designed Systems today
introduced a new member of its ViewStation FX Series of RISC-based X
Window terminals. Featuring a 17" Trinitron display and high
resolution, the FX17CT is priced at $2299 -- less than half the cost
of similar X terminals from other manufacturers.

"The FX17CT expands HDS' already broad range of X Window terminals by
offering high resolution color at a very affordable price", stated
Michael Kantrowitz, HDS' Vice President of Marketing."The FX17CT
offers X terminal end users an excellent combination of performance
and display quality at a new price point for X Window terminals of
this capability."

The FX17CT features 1152x900 and 1280x1024 resolution and a
high-performance monitor with a Sony Trinitron tube for superior video
quality. Like all other members of HDS' ViewStation FX Series, the new
model is designed around an Intel i960CA RISC CPU that offers
workstation-class performance. Four MB of RAM are included in the base
configuration, along with twisted-pair Ethernet, serial and parallel
ports, a mouse and keyboard. Optionally the terminal can be
configured with up to 68 MB of RAM, and with flashPROM, a unique
option that allows both central administration and local booting in
one unit. [See related release dated September 22, 1992]

The FX17CT includes HDSware V2.0, a new software environment that
include HDS' highly optimized X server, local OPENLOOK and Motif
window managers (full licensed versions, not "look-alikes"), local
VT320 emulation, PPP for fast serial X, SNMP for network management, a
local host chooser, and a new graphical setup mode that makes the
terminal easy to use. HDSware V2.0 includes the ability to add
additional X Client applications locally to offload host computers and
take full advantage of the ViewStation FX RISC CPU.

The FX17CT is available two weeks after receipt of order.
