One thing I think ACM also needs to do is understand what email is all about.

What I mean is that I emailed ACM about a couple of publications I wanted that
where not listed in the Publications catalog. Instead of giving my message
to the correct person(s), I got a message back to call the order department.
I didn't say anything to them, but frankly, I see email as an alternate to
phone and snail mail. If I wanted to call the order department, I would have
done so. I didn't because I didn't know if they handled one of the publication
I needed. I emailed to avoid the bother of trying to call and explain what I
wanted or writting a letter and waiting forever for a resonse. This is
especially true as I spend most of my time in a lab with no phone access.
If I need to contact someone, it is easier to send them email.
