FYI - There has been 2 mailings so far this year. The first one was a white
"greeting card" size envelope that contained the original 12 page program plus
some information and registration forms. That went out in August to all DECUS
members. In September their was a smaller "tickler" that was glued shut and
had a multi-colored cover. That did ***NOT*** go to any DEC employees. There
shortly will be a "last chance - act now" letter going to any new members or
anyone who has attended a Seminar/Symposia week in the last two years. That
letter will not be sent to DEC employees or to anyone who had their
registration processed before last week.

If you have not received a copy of DECUScope in the last five months in 999
out of 1000 cases you are NOT a DECUS member today. Only if you have received
a copy of DECUScope should you consider yourself a DECUS member with a correct
membership profile.

I too would be very interested in the answer to this question. For lack of a
better term there is a lot or "urban folklore" developing around this
Symposia/Seminars mailing. It comes from folks in DECUS leadership (who do
not have hard numbers at this point) talking about how they know or heard that
someone received their mailing and threw it away. Of course when we track
this down we find it is the same 5 or 6 very vocal folks who are the source of
this lore.

Of course the reason why this lore is developing is because we are only
hearing about the negative cases. We need to hear from everyone at this
point. I have a favor to ask of all in the U.S. Chapter who are reading this
newsgroup (even at the risk of flooding our mailboxes). Please tell us if...

	1) If you were aware or not aware that the first mailing you
	received was your registration kit.

	2) If you really did or did not hold off registering while you
waited for the old fat program.

	3) If you called the 800 number for materials and never received
	them.

	4) If having to call for the full seminar abstracts casued you
	not to register.

	5) For those of you who have attended fall Symposia/Seminars in the
past but are not doing so this time - why not?

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take the time to send your response to these four
Internet mail address...

cory@decus.org
fuhr@decus.org

We need to hear both sides (folks who it worked for as well as folks who it
didn't) - thanks for taking the time to respond.
