Speaking as the former charter president for the San Diego Sun Local User
Group from 1988-1990 I would have to say I am extremely disappointed in
the International SUG's commitment to the local user group. Almost
every program they tried to get off the ground failed and we didn't see any
support from them during the time I was there. From my contacts on
SDSLUG now I found this has not changed in the last two years either.
We received more support from the local SUN office than from SUG.

As far as I know the CD and the conferences have been the only things
happening and I didn't buy the CD because I can get all of this off
the net and I don't go to the conferences because they are too close to
the Usenix conferences or too close to the holidays to be of any good.
I can't justify going to them.

Basically I have written SUG off. I took the election this year as the
sign that SUG had ceased to be a viable technical concern. From the
discussion going on here I feel that might have been an extreme position
to take so I may re-evaluate it.

My current gripe is that my README still hasn't caught up with me
since I moved 18 months ago. |:-) See signature below if someone wants
to expedite it.
