If you go to AOS/VS II, then you can use TCP/IP II, which will give you
full-screen telnet, and remote shell capability. You'd also have the
option of running ONC/NFS (export-only), which would allow you to mount
AOS/VS directories on your UNIX machines.

We use MAILI to get from CEO mail to UNIX mail, this is something I
just use, without knowing how or why it works, so I can't be much help.
I'm not even sure what the product name of MAILI is.

AOS/VS II supports VT100 translations for control codes and cursor
positioning. There's a file in :UTIL called DGXTERM_DEFAULTS that
can be used to get xterm to generate DG codes for function keys.
I believe that AOS/VS can also do VT100 translations, but only if
you've connected via a termserver/termcontroller.

If you do use AViiONs, then DG/UX has an X11 client called mterm that
can emulate a D216 or a D410, I use this all of the time now.
