Again, my thanks to all those folks that have been help helpful with the elementary questions that I've has so far. I have been supplied various termcap and terminfo files for using Data General terminals with Unix boxes in the corporation, and they seem to work just fine. viz: Someone at a Data General terminal connected via serial line or terminal switch is logged into a Data General miniframe and needs access to a Unixbox. So they "telnet machinename" to the Unixbox, use a "setenv TERM terminalname" to tell the Unixbox what type of terminal they are, and then go to work. Basicallty, the connection method and type between the terminal and the Unixbox becomes immaterial. We also have in-house terminal emulation software so that all of our PCs can talk the the Data General via serial connections and/or terminal switches. What I am still looking for is a solution to the following scenario: Someone is on a PC or logged into a Unixbox as a VT100 or other non-DG terminal type. This person needs to work in the Data General AOS/VS v7.65 enviornment to do WordPerfect, 20/20, or some other application running on the Data General which requires a Data General terminal type (D200..D470,etc.). GIVEN: NO CONNECTION EXISTS BETWEEN THE TERMINAL AND THE DATA GENERAL ***EXCEPT*** A TELNET (TCP/IP) (ethernet) CONNECTION. I am looking for a TCP/IP-based connection for the Data General which can communicate/translate to DG-based applications. It would appear based upon our research to this point that the limitation is in the telnet implementation on the Data General (has "hardcopy only" terminal emulation"). Any products you purvey or leads you can give me to break through this barrier would be very seriously considered. Thanks for your interest.

You may also get some sort of 3rd party box to connect an async line to a tcp/ip lan. I'm pretty sure, but not certain, that 7.65 supports the XLT characteristic, and if so, this will translate D200 commands to vt100 equivalents. Have Fun...
