hello all ,
unable to start X font server
I'm getting following message once I execute 'startx'
---------------------------------------------------
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer)
On X server '0.0' after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events
remaining .
[drm: i810_flush_queue] *Error Lockup
in /var/syslog/log file
-----------------------
could not init font path element unix/:700 remaining from list
Fatal server error : could not open default font Fixed .
i tried out
------------
#chkconfig --list | grep xfs
#chkconfig xfs on
#service xfs start
after above commands xfs is getting started but still the same
problem.
I even tried out Xconfigurator , when I run this then X windows gets
opened only for once.
Please help me out.
Thanks in advance ,
Vikram.

When X-posting to so many groups set FUT to the most relevant group. I have set FUT to comp.os.linux.development.apps, not because I bothered to find out which one is relevant, but rather because it is the only of the groups I follow. vicky wrote: > > hello all , > unable to start X font server > > I'm getting following message once I execute 'startx' > --------------------------------------------------- > XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) > On X server '0.0' after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events > remaining . > > [drm: i810_flush_queue] *Error Lockup > > in /var/syslog/log file > ----------------------- > could not init font path element unix/:700 remaining from list Here is your problem. xfs is not on port 700 but rather 7100. > > Fatal server error : could not open default font Fixed . > > i tried out > ------------ > > #chkconfig --list | grep xfs > > #chkconfig xfs on > #service xfs start > > after above commands xfs is getting started but still the same > problem. > > I even tried out Xconfigurator , when I run this then X windows gets > opened only for once. > > Please help me out. > > Thanks in advance , > > Vikram. Another possibility is that xfs failed to start because /tmp was full. -- Kasper Dupont -- der bruger for meget tid pīŋŊ usenet.
