Using the same Chipset. I suppose that the linuxkernel can't identify
the Intel PCI-Bridges and PCI-IDE-Bridges: In general, all the stuff
from Intel on-board. When I bought the motherboard, an additional floppy
whith devicedrivers for that PCI-IDE-Bridges from Intel was supplied for
NT and Windows. There, I've found the same problem: Unknown device. So,
while I'm usint kernel 2.0.30, all I've got while booting would be the
message 'unknown pci-device'.

Whups. Just noticed something which may or may not be significant.
The K6-2-300 CPU requires a 2.2-volt core voltage supply. This
voltage may or may not be available on your motherboard - I can't tell
based on what you report. The K5 CPUs use 3.4 volts, while the K6
uses 3.2 volts (K6-PR233), 2.9 volts (K6-166, K6-200), or 2.2 volts
(K6-233, -266, and -300).
Since your note doesn't say specifically that the K6-2 is supported by
the motherboard, I suspect that there's a chance that the MB might not
have a 2.2-volt dual-plane power supply. If this is the case, and if
you've set the voltage-regulator jumpers based on the documentation
for an older K6 processor, you may very well be running your K6-2 at a
higher voltage than it is rated for. This might result in
overheating, intermittent operation, crashes, chip failure or damage,
and/or the collapse of the economy of a major Asian country.
You might want to check the AMD web site and confirm that your
motherboard is on their "supported" list. If it isn't, you may need
to either switch processors, or switch motherboards (FWIW, I like my
ASUS P5A with the K6-2-300).
