Unable to boot Linux from Jaz with SC-875 controller

I have just bought a SC-875 from Asus, to replace
my existing Adaptec 2940.

Previously I could set an option in the 2940 bios, to
treat all drives as fixed, which meant that my Jaz was
seen as a fixed drive, which again allowed me to boot
Linux from my Jaz drive.

The SC-875 does not have this feature, which only allows
me to install Linux, but when I try to boot Linux from
the Jaz drive, the system freezes.

Do you have any surgestions which will allow me to boot
Linux from my Jaz drive ?

Thanks/Regards,
Claus Norbohm
