What's best for reliable BBS: SCO Unix, Linux, or NT?

I need to select a Unix system to run a BBS which must service eight
modems reliably day and night for weeks at a time, but which
only needs to be managed via FTP and Telnet, and doesn't need to do
any remote filesystem stuff (no NFS, no Novell) nor any graphics.
I need Unix because the BBS will have to be custom written (it's for
programs to call up and register themselves, not for users),
and I have no stomach for doing multitasking code under MS-DOS.

Is Linux up to critical applications like this, or am I better off
under SCO Unix? I suspect that either system requires a Unix weenie
(like myself) to run it, and I'd much rather that it be easy to
administer.
For that matter, should I consider Microsoft Windows NT?

Can you pass open file descriptors between processes under SCO? under Linux?
under NT? This seems like something I might want to do to pass calls
from my frontend to a 3rd party backend.
