Well Journos are known for their arrogance and ability to stretch the truth... This guy takes the cake however! I've never read so much dribble ... Take a read of the poorly researched article at: http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/97/04/20/stiinnsnd01001.html?1720768 My guess is he was such a dumb ass he couldn't read the instructions during installation. In case anyone wants to send a flame mail to the author, find the article by Bruce Perens in cola archive (http://www.iki.fi/liw/linux/cola.html) and read it first. -- Dimirti emaziuk @ curtin.edu.au ----------------------------------------------- If Jesus was Jewish, why did he have a Puerto-Rican name? For those who couldn't find the article (it's in the April 1997 area) he requests people NOT to flame the author, as the guy is an idiot and when in a fight with an idiot, it's sometimes difficult for others to tell who the idiot is. Check... http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/~wirzeniu/linux/cola.archive/1997-04/cola.1997-04-23..000 for the article.. Besides which..isn't the guy entitlted to his opinion ?
He may well be gravely wrong (which he is...) and completely idiotic
(probably...) but he's surely entitled to express it.
I think I read somewhere that right-of-reply has been granted and
someone will be writing an answer anyhow..
Don't think I'd like to live in a world where idiots were banned...
(I might be one too, for one thing :-) ....)
I mean life without <ASBESTOS UNDIES> Pauline Hanson</ASBESTOS UNDIES>
or Amanda Vanstone would be pretty boring...easy maybe, but boring...

This guy is a perfect example of those who are afraid of the command line interface, and those who worship Bill Gates, I run both linux and MSDOS 6.2 & Win3.11, I will never install Win95 simply because it is poorly documented and it's painfull to use. I really good tagline I once saw comes to mind: MicroSoft, 10 years of the 640K limit. Something to that affect. Drew. Consider the source. The very next week that guy was wineing about cables connected to his computer. The cry baby could not keep from get tangled in the cables connecting his computer, and had so drastic solutions. Look the guy has a right to his option, and the people that read, and listen to his trash should have not business with Linux. Linux takes brains and common sence to install and run. Let em go to to Bill. Bill will help em out. Windows 2099 Who cares..... David M. As the guy who compiled the linux-in-the-media FAQ said, the best way is not to engage journalists directly, but to emphasize positive aspects of linux, such as the linux space shuttle story. Also, bear in mind that linux is still not quite ready for naive users, so this kind of reaction can be expected occasionally. -- Jason Stokes: j.stokes @ bohm.anu.edu.au
