Help: 1.3 Kernels won't work with my computer
#585

Hi!
All my tries mto use one of the newer kernels failed. I tried already:
1.3.57, 1.3.59, 1.3.92, 1.3.93, 1.3.95, 1.3.97, pre2.0.7
but everytime the same: after a few minutes (up to 15 min) the kernel
crashes... (the correct crash message I didn't wrote down, because it
was too long and I would have to type it into the computer again..., but
I include some config files and other stuff and a crash message which is
an example for all the varieties of crash messages)
When starting the computer there appears everytime a line like this (see
dmesg included):
fcntl_setlk() called by process 154 (lpd) with broken flock() emulation
with lpd, cron and sendmail...

My system:	486 DX-4 100
		ASUS SP-3G PCI Board
		NCR Controller
		16 MB RAM
		SMC Elite Combo Netcard
(the rest is visible when you read the dmesg I incl.)
config File of pre0.7 is also included
Please help me. I would be very thankful. Perhaps something wrong in the
bios? Or something wrong in compiling the kernel?

cu,
		MATZE

Well - that at least is relatively easy to solve - you need to install
the libc 5.2.18.

I suggest you investigate /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes and make
sure that the various versions of other required software meets the
requirements laid out here.

Shows interrupt handler to be having trouble?

Action Plan:

Try fixing you irq conflict.
