Problems loading syscallmgr in dosmeu
#595

Hi Guys,
having problems trying to load syscallmgr for dosemu-0.60.4. make most
works without a problem. When I try and load syscallmgr this is what I get:

sys_call_table undefined
kmalloc undefined
kfree_s undefined
current undefined
verify_area undefined
printk undefined
Failed to load module! The symbols from kernel 1.2.13 don't match 1.2.13

    Background:
      - kernel 1.2.13 compiled with CONFIG_MODVERSIONS. Was compiled with
        aout.
      - have configured modules-1.2.8 successfully, did have some problems
with compiler warnings, but it compiled.
      - in the Makefile.linux I defined the KERNEL_VERSION as 1002013.
      - doesnt seem to matter if I use ./insmod or insmod.

Should I try compiling dosemu in aout instead of elf as it is at the moment.

I suspect its something more sinister than that.

My eventual aim is to use emumodule with dosemu.

Many Thanks

I thing you have compiled the module without defining CONFIG_MODVERSIONS.
In this case the kernelsymbols will not be found because there names are
sys_call_table_Rxxxxxx where xxxxxxstands for a versionnumber. I had the
same Problem with ftape 2.06b. When I added -DCONFIG_MODEVERSIONS=1 to the
Compileflags in the Makefile all went OK.

hope that helps,

I recently had very near the same problem. I could not get emumodule
to load with the undefined sys_call. The problem that I had did not
seem exactly the same as yours, but maybe this will help.

My solution that worked, I am not sure which of the combination
worked, but I did a make clean for the kernel and dosemu.
I recompiled the kernel making sure that all the requirements in the
Quick Start quide were met. I then recompiled dosemu with
#define REQUIRES_EMUMODULE in the emu.h,
(the #define prolly not needed), but look in the makefile for the
emumodule for more specifics.
Next I ran the
 load_emumodule.sh
script, which loaded emumodule without nary a warning.
It worked!! Next thing you know I was playing doom under dosemu!
Well, I worked on the keyboard and video setup for a while first :)

Bah. Run the native Linux binaries - it's a lot faster. :-) Even accepts
the commercial .wad files. ;)
