I'm having some throughput problems on Linux (Red Hat 4.1). When I'm connected the throughput will carry on at a nice hugh rate then drop down to 542 bytes per second. The following output was obtained this evening on a 31.2 connection with the command "pppstats -i 1": 11662 10302 9253 10660 11399 542 [Several seconds of 542 and 1084 bytes per second snipped] 542 542 965 4431 10689 9649 10485 10714 The high throughput is obtained with text data (presumably lots of compression - seems to be limited by the speed of the PC modem connection :-). This throughput problem does not appear with Win 95. I used to run with kernel 2.0.27 but upgraded to 2.0.30 because some changes were said to fix a TCP stall problem. More recently, I tried 2.0.31. None of the kernel changes appeared to have any effect on throughput in any way. The PPP version is 2.2.0f. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is or how I might track it down? Paul
