Hi. I am trying to mount a Linux NFS volume onto a Solaris 2.5.1 workstation. I am able to mount the volume and do an `ls' on the mount point and things work fine. However, if I try and read a large file from the NFS volume, I whole operation will hang at a particular point into the transfer. Are there any known problems with Linux NFS and Solaris? Thanks, Ben --- Ben Elliston bje@cygnus.com

In this case the problem seems to be with Sun since I can mount SGI volumes on HP and Linux machines. I have had problems with some revs of Linux's mountd. The symptoms of this are that mountd core dumps when trying to mount from HP machines. This is solved by getting a later rev of mountd. -- Peter F Bradshaw | http://www.nautronix.com.au/, pfb@nautronix.com.au Nautronix Ltd. | PGP public key at 108 Marine Terrace | http://www.iinet.net.au/~pfb/public_key.html Fremantle, WA, 6160 | "Needs more salt" - Archimedes

You haven't given any version information. IIRC, the NFS support is going to be rewritten for 2.2 (2.1?). FWIW, I've had no problems with 2.0.31 NFS and Digital Unix, IRIX or Solaris 2.5.1 -- Chris "Saundo" Saunderson Chris.Saunderson@adelaide.maptek.com.au Technical Support Engineer Telephone: (08) 8379 7333 Maptek Pty Ltd Fax: (08) 8379 7377 Powered by Linux, Jolt and the Orb.
