I have tried several versions of esd. As soon as I start esd I have problems with my ppp connection. I emailed the esd author and he suggested that it must be my irq setup. I have used "pppdump -c" and isapnp.conf to set my irq and io sound card settings, and as far as I can see it is fine. The problem can be seen by running netstat -i . When esd is running I get a huge number of "RX-DRP" errors . This is not a trivial error for me, the ppp link , while it does not drop out, is unusable while esd runs. I can play x11amp mp3s till the cows come home, I just can't use esd any ideas would be appreciated.
