It's great to hear all these glowing reports about 2940UW cards working,
but you are all missing the point here! These are older 2940UW cards,
not the latest versions that are slightly different somewhere in the
firmware. The difference is enough to cause problems in 2.0.30 and older
kernels, with cards bombing out, or cards not being detected at all. The
jury is still out on 2.0.31+. Does anybody have a new 2940UW that
wouldn't work in 2.0.30-, but does in 2.0.31+?

Adaptec is being quite petty about Linux. They originally were providing
documentation, now they either require an NDA or don't provide
documentation at all. If they change something in a current product, or
produce a new product, Linux support cannot be modified/created. 

Please think again about supporting Adaptec.
