Driver NCR 83c7,8xx not working

I've bought a NCR SCSI card and a SCSI disk to add a new drive to my Linux
box, but I haven't be able to get them work under Linux:

The card (GA-410 NCR 53c810) is recognized by my mother board BIOS (Intel
Premier PCI II, Plato), and by Linux (1.2.11), I have been able to repartition
the drive with fdisk from Linux, but each time I try to format/read/write the
disk, the system hang, and I have to reboot. The problem is in the Linux NCR
driver since I have been able to format and use from MS-DOS the dos partition
I had created on the new SCSI disk.

Has anyone a clue what is wrong in the driver?

Thanks
