Hi All, I would like to ask those who have used Linux Redhat 4.2 before.. I have manage to get my LAN to work.. now I wanna get my ppp as well. I have try to get my ppp to work .. now I try to manually dial in using minicom then exit without reset the modem.. all work fine... get connected and able to start the ppp connection... after that I start the pppd -d -detach /dev/ttyS1 38400 & I try to ping my isp host but it say .. host unreachable also I try $route -n and somehow there is one entry that point to ppp interface...there should be 2. the one I got is the destination .. there is no default ... it appear as 0.0.0.0. I want to know where is the file that I change the default route ... because I believe the default route is pointing to my ethernet card.. or local nloopback.. regards, Jason Ung

For example : pppd -d -detach defaultroute /dev/ttyS1 38400 & . Matt Payton

You should add the default option to pppd. Something more like this should work: pppd /dev/cua1 57600 lock -detach crtscts modem asyncmap 0 defaultroute -- Peter Rye <prye@picu-sgh.demon.co.uk> Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care, St. George's Hospital, London, UK Ph: +44 (0)181 725 1932 Fax: +44 (0)181 725 0089 ** Smoking areas in restaurants are like peeing areas in swimming pools. **
