Probs with RH 4 - hanging on shutdown + no mouse

Hi all,

Have Installed Redhat 4, but are having two anoying problems....

1) I have a PS/2 mouse connector on my motherboard, which I do no use. I
actually use a Logitech mouseman. Anyway, when I boot up the Kernel, it detects
the mouseport as an ATI bus mouse. I compiled my kernel making sure the section
on bus mice was NOT selected. On my next reboot, it still detected it. Why???

I cannot get my mouse to work in gpm or X (it worked fine in 3.0.3). I have
tried using both serialports to no avial.

2) When I do a shutdown using either CTRL-ALT-DEL or the shutdown command, the
computer goes through all the usual stuff killing off everything, but when the
machine should reboot it just hangs. I have to Hit the reset button, and then
Ioose all by bios settings.

I have a PNP bios with an Intel 150Mhz Pentium.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have similar problems when shutting down. When I run the shutdown
command everything is killed nicely until the part when the filesystems
are supposed to be unmounted. I get a system trap and an immediate
reboot. When I reboot Linux, I consistently see that it has to repair
the file system and put it in a 'clean' state.
It's really annoying.

I have mailed Red Hat support a week ago and I have yet to hear from
them.

Have you installed the upgrade RPMs that fix various problems? Search
the RedHat Web site for "errata colgate" and see if your problem is
described there.
