I did this and it works like a charm and you don't need XFree86 4.0 for it :-). ------------------------------------>Cut<----------------------------------- ---------------- HOW TO ADD TRUE TYPE FONTS TO LINUX/NETSCAPE What we want is actually True Type Fonts. If you have a dual boot system like I do then just copy the files in c:\windows\fonts to a new directory in /usr/ttfonts. This is pretty simple. If you dont have windows installed then you can also get them from someone who does. Or get ahold of the Microsoft True Type Fonts Package. Next, We need to create a file called fonts.dir in the /usr/ttfonts directory. This is kind of a refer- ence to all the available fonts found in that directory. We do this by issuing the following command while in the directory /usr/ttfonts. ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale This will create the file fonts.dir. Next, We want to add /usr/ttfonts to our fonts path. This can be done by issuing the following command: chkfontpath --add /usr/ttfonts This will add /usr/ttfonts to your fonts path. Next, We need to tell Netscape to use these fonts. You will need to add the following lines to your .Xdefault file in your home directory. Netscape*DocumentFonts.sizeIncrement: 20 Netscape*documentFonts.xResolution*iso-8859-1: 100 Netscape*documentFonts.yResolution*iso-8859-1: 100 The next step is to restart your font server so that it re-reads the font path. /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart Now restart X-windows and get on the web and loadup Netscape. You will notice that you will have to change your default font in preferences in netscape. But "taa daa"! Your fonts are fixed!! coffee -- coffee at indy dot net RedHat 6.20 AMD K62-500*ASUS P5A*98 Megs Ram*Voodoo3 2000 ICQ 1614986 http://www.indy.net/~coffee -------------------------------------->Cut<--------------------------------- ------------ that's it.. hope this helps a bit. regards, alex
