Clearing everything up

Ok everyone, stop bitching

I have written back and forth with him a few times by email and checked out
the sample program.

He obviously misunderstood the term "edit". He doesn't want anything that
can change the video--we all know that would be a lot of work. He just wants
something that can play it and maybe copy clips from it.

As far as the codecs go, he was using a Microsoft ActiveX control, so no
licensing or anything would have to be done.

The interface was rather childish. I considered taking up the
program--basicly just prettying up the interface. I would probably try to
find another way of embeding some of the video stuff and redoing the picture
display.

I have explained to him that it will most likely be impossible for him to
have the application not require an installer. About the only way he could
do that is for it to be written in Visual C++ and have EVERYTHING staticly
linked. Most programmers don't know this but when an application looks for a
DLL or OCX it first tries the WinSys dir and then the local dir. So he could
prolly get away with storing some of the heavy shit on CD-ROM. Again, I
don't know. I think if it were done in VB that a few of the components would
have to be fused into the system, like the VB runtime.

I told him that I could prolly do it for around $200. A little low, yes, but
hey... I just spend several hundred hours working on a freeware talker
server so it doesn't bother me that much. Video software is not my area of
expertise (sockets) but I have done some hacks back in the old Days O' Dos.

Ok, my pretties... Hope that clears a little up.
