Good way to ingratiate yourself to people there.  Many shareware authors ARE
"professional programmers" who've just accessed an alternate way to
distribute either their primary products (those good enough to do it full
time) or, perhaps, something they did on the side.  Even those who aren't
"professionals" (as in making their living from it) still do high quality
professional work.  I suspect you've just offended just about everyone who
could do the job properly.

One doesn't need to be an "elitist" to recognize that their time is worth
compensation.  Is there something about your product that would make one of
us WANT to donate our time?
