Renaming drive letter of secondary drive?

I recently installed a secondary drive to my computer.

Now, Windows 95 automatically, renames my secondary
drive as D:, and moves my CD-ROM to E:.

I am just wondering if it is possible to rename the
second drive from D: to some other letter, since I want
to keep using D: for my CD-ROM.

Another problem.
When I boot up, the BIOS screen shows something along
the lines:

Hard Disk 0 Installed WDC [serial number]
Hard Disk 1 Installed WDC [serial number]
CD-ROM Drive Installed XF [some number]
Floppy A: Installed

Now, before I installed my second drive, the time between
CD-ROM Drive Installed showing, and Floppy A: Installed was
10 seconds. After I had installed it, the time has shot up
to 43 seconds!
Can anyone explain why?
I don't know, but my suspicion lies with the fact that
CD-ROM has been set from Slave to Master.

Setup Information follows:
OS- Windows 95
I have two IDE interfaces on the M/B.
Main hard disk: Western Digital 2.1 Gig
Secondary hard disk: Western Digital 540Mb
CD-ROM drive: Mitsumi Quad speed

Before: Primary Master- Main Hard Disk
        Primary Slave- CD-ROM
        Secondary- None
After: Primary Master- Main Hard Disk
       Primary Slave- Secondary Hard Disk
       Secondary Master- CD-ROM
       Secondary Slave- None
In all cases the jumps have been set correctly
to Master or Slave.

I have tried several different ways of setting
up the primary/secondary master/slave combinations
for the 2 hard disks and CD-ROM drives, but only
this combination seemed to be detected by BIOS,
although Windows is able to detect them.

All replies to be sent by email please.
(My ISP seems to enjoy withholding news.)

The two physical drives have to get letters first in DOS and 95, no way
around it. Then come logical drives followed by mounted drives and then
CD Rom. Way around it is to set 95 to have cd-rom at l or letter you
will never reach and install apps again or try new wizard in
Partitionmagic3.0 that will search a drive for references to d: and
switch them to e: if you confirm.
