I would appreciate some PS/2 trouble shooting advice. I recently changed my serial mouse (com 1, irq 4) to a PS/2 mouse (PS/2 port, irq 12). I enabled CMOS irq 12 for primary PS/2 mode, which is available. Win95 device wizard adds the mouse port with irq 12. The problem is that the PS/2 mouse only works in windows safe mode. In normal mode if I touch the mouse the system freezes and I have to reboot. Device manager in system resources does not show any conflict with other devices. I am using Win95 OSR2 with the following devices: Modem Serial Port Ethernet Card (PCI) SCSI Adapter (PCI) Soundcard S-VGA Card (PCI) 3.5 floppy CD-ROM Is this an irq conflict? If not what could it be? Please E-mail to me and post to news groups. Thank you.

If not what could it be? Try pulling out all your cards (except for video) and see if the motherboard resources re-initialize themselves. Be sure that PnP is enabled on the motherboard. Hopefully, IRQ 12 will be truely assigned to the PS/2 port. Windows95 typically doesn't like to be told what and where things are in the system resources by the user. Windows95 prefers to find things on its own and assign things on its own. Sometimes, running ADD NEW HARDWARE (and saying "Yes", never say "No") will re-awaken dormant ports that were previously ignored (depending on the BIOS your motherboard has).
