Mixing two or more .wav files together

Hello.

I have done some sound samples of my drumset and wish to send them out the
digital channel of my audio card. Basically what I need to do is play some of
the sounds simultaneosuly (i.e. hihat and snare drum). These are two samples
which I have created. What I want to do is have all of the samples in memory
and then take, for example, the hihat and snare samples and make a third
resultant sample that is both of them combined to play at the same time. It
would be entirely impossible to make samples of every possible drum/cymbal
combination out there, so this is what I figure is my best alternative (I
figure this will be a CPU hungary event, but thats OK!)... Can anyone give me
a hand with some code (C or assembler please), or an algorithm on how to do
what I want to do.

Thank you,
Rob Lizak Jr.
