We are running NetWare 3.12 and ArcServe v6. NetWare has been patched up to 312PT9, CDUP4, LANDR8, LIBUP9 and STRTL5. ArcServe NLM is Build 43, 12/16/95. The Server is a Compaq Proliant 1500 with 82MB RAM, 8GB Disk. The backup unit is a Compaq external 4/16 SCSI device connected via the SCSI-2 connector on the Proliant. We use 120 Metre DDS-2 DAT tapes. We have been backing up around 6GB to a single tape each night over a period of 8 months. Over the past week, however, it would appear as if the backup has stopped compressing data as it writes it to tape. Each morning we get in and the server's sitting there asking us to insert a second tape. We've checked the ArcServe configuration and it tells us that compression is "on"..... The "compression" dip-switch in the Compaq unit has also been checked and it's set correctly. Has anyone seen this happen? If so, how did you get around it? TIA Peter Dwyer CSC Australia
