In this weekend I've been trying to move data from my old NW-3.12 server to a new one. I'm not finished yes. But under the copy ( Arcserve ) I notited that when copying from sys:mail to the new sys:mail ( about 2000 users everyone with a deep win95 user profile structure ), the copy ended premature and claims thatr there either was a lack of diskspace or directory space. I'd found that the "set maximum percent of volume used by directory was 13 % ( default ? ) . I've changed that parameeter to 50% to make sure that there should be room. ( Unfortunately I didn't find whether it worked, because the server abend'ed for other reasons ). When I then booted both the servers wiht the 50 % option, I started a copy of a user volume with about 10 GB of data to the new volume which was 20GB after about 2 hours the copy stopped with the same explanation. Is there perhaps any Gurus out there who could explain the exsact meeniung of the parameters and what consequences it could have. Also I'm wondering whether the 50 % is the percent of the total volume or of the amount of space actually being used. Also I wondered whether anyone sholud have a formula or something like that of what the amount of diskspace is for the directory itself ( 4K blocks ). I'm rather desperate due the fact that the new server still isnt working , and I'd only got about 4 hours of sleep for the last 3 days. Henning Lang

Is there any existing data that your are copying over on the new sys:mail, or is that new sys:mail volume completely blank? If you are copying over to existing data, you may want to have the system immediately purge deleted files so that you don't run out of directory entries in the middle of the copy, which is what appears to be happening.
