Besides upgrading to NetWare 4.1, what is the best way to synchronize passwords automatically between NetWare 3.12 servers, so that when someone changes a password on one server, the change is cascaded to all the other servers? Thanks for any help or pointers to third-party products. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Kustner Emjay Corporation System/LAN Administrator 725 W. Answer Yes to the prompt to sycchronize all passwords.

You must change the passwords on all the servers

BUT! this only works if the passwords are ALREADY synchronised, so you may have to do it manually the first time. i have just tested this (as we speak), so i am confident this answer is accurate.

You will have to do it manually the first time, if they are not synchronized. Once the passwords are synchronized and the user is required to change them the system will ask if he/she would like to synchronize once again. No testing here, it is in everyday use. Sue

Use your login script on server #1 to "auto-attach" to any other needed servers. Make sure that the first time the user logs in they set all server passwords to the same thing. When they use the SETPASS utility to change the password, they will be given the option to synchronize the passwords on any other 3.x or 4.x (bindery) servers that they are connected to. We have been using this for a while and it works very cleanly.
