I am looking into integrating various facilities in a hospital into our
computer network. At the moment, we are looking into the following 3 areas.
I will really appreciate it if anyone has experience setting up any of
these to email me with details of the products they use so that I can
look into the products myself.
1) Alarm monitoring system.
We have 16 alarm motnitoring channels. If any of the alarms is
triggered, a buzzer will sound to alert the operator as well as
lighting up a light in the alarm panel showing the type of alarm.
What we want is a PC running, say, OS/2 monitoring these channels
and display the alarm when triggered on the screen.
2) Voice-mail system.
We need a voice mail system to handle 8 lines simultaneously or
even more for future expansion. This system will include annoucement
capabilities as well as normal answering services with recording of
incoming messages.
3) Paging system.
This will be of more of a long term project. The idea is to integrate
the above systems (voice-mail and alarm system) to the paging system.
That is, when a person get a voice-mail (or even an email), he/she will
be automatically paged on his/her personal pager. Also, when an alarm
triggers, the system will page the enginner on duty and alert him/her
possibly with an alarm code on alphnumeric pagers.
Has anyone done things like these. Any company contacts will be great. I have
contacted VoiceLink Inc in IL, USA about their voice mail system.
If there is any interest, I will post a summary later.
Thank you all for replying.
Sincerely,
Wey J Ho
