I've had symptoms like reported here happen before. Sometimes the name servers get
out of
wack. I've had perfectly good names be reported as unknown. Sometimes they are back
minutes
later and other times it takes the better part of a day. I've also had it happen more
than once.
While it is reasonable to *ask* if anyone know about xyz company when this happens.
From my
experience you cannot assume that the company or site is gone only that the internet
has had a
hiccup. Sometimes when my ISP's name server reports an unknown that I know is good, I
have
used nslookup with my choice of name server. Sometimes that works and sometimes that
doesn't.
